Monday September 8th -Feast Day of the Nativity of the Theotokos - Divine Liturgy 10:00 am. 

THIS WEEK!  AFTERNOON GREEK LANGUAGE AND CULTURE SCHOOL meets weekly, 4:30-7:30 pm either Wednesdays or Fridays according to level.  BEGINS FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12thwith anAGIASMOS, Holy Water Blessing, to mark the beginning of the School Year, 4:30 pm FOR ALL LEVELS.   A comprehensive program of Greek education, beginner through the Regents level. Students are placed in levels in accordance with their knowledge of the Greek language rather than according to their age. Small classes, with experienced teachers.  Info:  Anne Alexandrou 631-549-5469.   

ADULT GREEK LANGUAGE CLASSES: Starting in September, Intermediate Greek classes will be on Tuesdays from 6:45-9:00 pm. Beginning Greek classes will be on Mondays from 6:45-9:00 pm.  BEGINS MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 22nd for 30 sessions.  Info:  Mrs. Horton:  516-624-0150. 

SUNDAY SCHOOL runs from Nursery through High School.  BEGINS SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 28th  Registration at the Church or by mail beforehand. Registration forms available on website. Info:  Tina Mihaltses at 516-628-1872.  

REGISTRATION WILL TAKE PLACE ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 14TH AND 21ST, for Little Angels (1-3), HOPE (4-6), JOY (7-12), and GOYA (13-18). Please consider registering your child for one of our youth groups. If you have any questions call the office (516) 671-5200 or speak to Nickie Demos.

SUNDAY SCHOOL, YOUTH ACTIVITIES, AND GREEK SCHOOL REGISTRATION FORMS are available on our website.  

CHURCH OF THE HOLY RESURRECTION PICNIC, Sunday, September 28th (first day of Sunday School), immediately following Divine Liturgy.  A full day of fun with our own church community! Hamburgers/hotdogs, wine, beer, soda, games, and music, sports including football, volleyball, relay races, and many more!  If you can, please feel free to bring salads, desserts, or sporting equipment.  Please bring an appropriate change of clothes, changing rooms will be provided.  Rain Date: October 5th.      

ST. CATHERINE’S PHILOPTOCHOS NEWS

***HOUSE TOUR*** October 22nd. Tickets are now available for sale. Come see two magnificent Gold Coast homes and enjoy a delicious brunch.  Please support us by attending this important fundraiser. HOLY RESURRECTION GOLF OUTING, at the Meadow Brook Club on September 16, 2008.  The day will begin with Registration and brunch at 10:00 A.M, and will conclude with cocktails and an award ceremony. We will hold our Second Annual Parish Leadership Conference on Saturday, October 4th.  This year’s conference will have the same objectives as our first:  to set goals and objectives for ourselves and to cultivate increased levels of teamwork. The main difference is that we hope to be able to use last year’s conclusions as a springboard, enabling us to get reach higher, and build on our successes.  Please contact Jim Gabriel or e-mail conference@resurrectiongoc.org if you have questions or would like to attend.

SAVE THE DATE, Sat. November 8th will be the Church’s Annual Dinner/Dance at the Mill River Country Club.

HOUSE BLESSINGS CONTINUE!  AS FR. JOHN is settled in as our new priest, he would like very much for each of you to fill out a house blessing and/or business blessing form located at the Pangari in the Narthex. Please write down on the form a few available days and times and Fr. John will contact you to schedule.

LOST AND FOUND:  A bracelet was returned to the office with pictures of Saints.  If you have lost anything, please call the office, we have several items that may belong to you. 

The proceedings of our Parish Leadership Conference are available online along with some photos. If you attended the conference, you will be receiving a copy of these procedings shortly. If you were unable to attend, please take the time to review the procedings online.

On May 4th, 2008, His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios installed Fr. John Vlahos as Proistamenos of our Parish.
